Willemijn Verkoren is a historian and political scientist, with a PhD in international development studies. She is Associate Professor (Universitair Hoofddocent) Peace and Conflict Studies at Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands, and Director of the Centre for International Conflict Analysis and Management (CICAM).

Willemijn’s research focuses on the analysis of violent conflict and peace processes in a changing global context. Special attention goes to peace- and state-building processes and the role of civil society in these. The political economy of peace and conflict is another research theme.

Willemijn teaches the courses “Conflicting Theories” and “Legitimation of Security Policy” (Legitimatie van Veiligheidsbeleid). She also regularly gives guest lectures.
